Excerpt from the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce 2009 legislative Agenda.
State Issues
-
Alternative energy sources will not replace oil and gas as the nation's primary energy resources in the foreseeable future. The State Chamber supports the protection of Oklahoma's exploration and production incentives which help create an environment that encourages economic development through investment in Oklahoma's oil and gas industry.
-
The State Chamber also believes that the state and the nation must develop alternative energy resources to complement the use of oil and gas and to help lessen our dependence on foreign oil and extend oil and gas reserves. The State Chamber therefore supports the exploration and development of nuclear, wind, solar, geothermal, biofuels and clean coal technologies as well as greater energy efficiency and conservation.
The State Chamber Opposes:
-
Any mandated use of alternative fuels;
-
Any efforts, federal or state, to impose a "windfall profits" tax on the energy sector or any other sector of our economy;
-
Any additional unnecessary regulatory intrusion into energy industry operations.
